PLN 16

I read an article called, Oil spill cleanup underway at Boulder Creek. A man cut the wrong pipe and ended up spilling 30 gallons of heating oil into the creek. The contracter didn't report it or tell anyone about the spill what so ever. The oil was found to be non toxic so far but it still makes me wonder how dirty our creeks are now? It makes me consider how good the oil is to the wild life in the creek and the people around it.

I read the article, Some Houstonians 'calling in gay' Boycott is over California's gay marriage reversal. There's this huge "Day Without a Gay" economic boycott today. Gays are tired of being treated like second class citizens. Poeple were calling themselves in as gay for an excuse to miss work. I believe gays have a right to show there love for someone else, but I believe that calling in gay to work is not a legitament excuse. People need to let people love however or whoever they want, its not your choice to decide who people are going to love.

I read an article called, Flat tires, missing wheels don't deter Commerce City car thief and it made me think of why people steal so much? A car theif took the entire front wheel and the real wheel off a truck by going over the stop sticks in the road. I guess he really wanted the car! Somehow the guy got away and left the truck on abandoned on the side of the road.

I read an article called, Royal Gorge jet-pack stunt successful and it made me think about how far technology is going lately. Somehow scientists managed to make a hydrogen-peroxide powered jet pack that actually works. What's next a flying car? Or robots to do everything for us? The jet pack couldn't fly for longer than 20 seconds so the military saw it as pointless to use. I believe it is crazy that the man that flew across the Royal Gorge and not use a parachute, he must of been really reliable on the jet pack to fly him across. I would wear a parachute if I was flying a jet pack than can only fly for about 20 seconds over 1,100 feet deep gorge. Science has brought a fictional item, into the real world.

PLN 12

I read a disturbing article, Sheridan teacher charged in child-sex case and I found it disgusting how teachers would actually have sex with students. Sexual assualt is nor okay and there is too many people trying to get away with it and they need to be stopped. The student should of been having sex with his teacher in the first place. The lady was twenty five and the kid was underaged and she shouldn't of taken advantage of her students. This was a dumb idea on both parts and I believe they both need to be punished.

PLN 11

I read the article, Weld County raid nets $1 million in cocaine and it made me realize how clueless the law is with drug. They also found $42,000 in cash along with the cocaine. I can't believe we even have a drug task force and we still haven't show'd much sucess on stopping illegal drugs. They are still on an ongoing investigation and don't even know who actually did it. They need to do more work to keep our state or even country safer.

PLN 10

In the article, Denver drive-by shooter kills victim just makes me realize how fast your life can end just be being by a street. A man was walking down the street with two of his friends at 10:45 at night. There has been no suspects yet and the shot guy has not been identified yet. Streets are dangerous and I think people need to take more thought into what they're causing and what they're doing to others before they do it. It scares me to know people that dangerous are roaming the streets. This young man was only twenty-one and his life already ended right when he was a legal adult, this story makes me worry about our own safety in Denver.

I read the article, Cherry Creek schools locked down as precaution and it was kind of scary to me. Four Cherry Creek schools were shut down because of kids reporting seeing a group of men with guns. No weapons were found on seven high school suspects after they were searched. They have not found anything on the boys yet but they're waiting to find out more. It's scary to think guns could be brought into our school and people could get seriously injured or even killed. I remember when I was in middle school, In eigth grade at Powell and their was a robery at a bank and we went in lock down and locked all the doors to the school.

PLN 8

I read the article, 6 treated for carbon minoxide in Centennial. This article made me realize how hazardous car starting in garages can really be. Three adults and three kids were treated with carbon minoxide poisoning this morning. Someone forgot they left their car running in a garage and fell alseep all night and it gave off hazardous fumes. The people who got poisoned thought they had food poisoning but one person was completely out of it when they were talking on the phone to a friend. What matters here is to be careful and never leave your car running or you can harm yourself and others.

PLN 7

I read, Littleton soccer coach faces child sexual assault and I found it terrifying. I used to play on challenge two on U14 and to think that would happen with my own league is just disterbing. As you know, lots of girls my age have been coached by this man. Parents should not have to be scared by just dropping off their kids at practice. To believe a goalie coach can kidnap and sexuall assault one of his players on the team is unbelievable. I think this man should be put away for life, the parents trusted him around their kids and he just took advantage of it.

PLN 5

I read an article named No More Librarians by Karl Fisch and it is an article about another article he read. It states that the man of the first article does not see the use of librarians anymore, because most learning is used on the internet. Personally, I have never read a whole novel over the internet ever before. Maybe, text books aren't needed on paper anymore because mostly all my text books are online that I can look up. Librarians at our school always look busy to me, checking in books, writing fees, helping students, delivering printed papers, and checking out books. Students still use the library to check out novels or biographys for papers in class and out. Some just read for fun but I think librarians are needed, because there's still work to be done.

PLN 4

I read an article called, RDU New! by David Warlick and it shows that the RDU terminal has suspicous outlets under the seats. The man who wrote this article doesn't believe these outlets are used for anything good. He doesn't know exactly what but the only wifi in the terminal is TMobile and he finds that kind of weird also. I don't exactly know what these outlets are for but I believe this man is driving himself crazy over just outlets, how could these possibly be harmful?He says he will not trival with this airline again, because of these sketchy outlets. I don't believe American Airlines can be harmful in any way.

I read the article, 68-year-old Evergreen man killed in crash by Kirk Mitchell, the man drove his truck off the road and drove into a tree. He was not wearing a seatbelt and it happened last thursday night. What matters in this article is safety counts when your driving on the road because it can come out with dangerous consiquences. I think that you should always make sure your in a condition that you can drive. The man should of left earlier or just stayed where he was if he was that tired. It's so sad what a little thing can do to a persons life.

For my third PLN I read 2 Cents Worth “If it’s Not About Technology, Then what is It About?”. While reading I noticed that we use technology to do our work a lot more then we should. Students use the internet to do their homework and work rather than books, but the internet isn't always right.Technology, is upgrading daily and its uses are practically anything. Computers learn alot about everything because people ask questions daily. As technology increases more students will go to technology even more than books. Students don't realize how you can't just find the answer all the time and learn something, you need to search for it and figure out what is wrong and right. But it's another story when it is an online book that teachers pass out because the book will always have the answer that will be correct. Technology is changing lives more than we know, Is it a good change or a bad change?

The Machines are using us paragraph

In the movie, "The Machines are Using Us" it demenstrates the near future and how technology is going today. In the movie it says that typed text is easier and I believe they state that fact because there is many different types and styles of handwritting and some are sloppy, too small, too big, well its just really hard to read. Also links are very easy to use because you can click on onw word to take you to any site on the web, like sources. Different font codes define different styles and exaggerations in your writing. The movie pretty much believes we teach machines to be smarter by searching things that tell the machine about what is important.

Did you know video

In the video Did you know by Karl Fisch what matters is that the world is changing very fast. It also made me realize, in the next 8 seconds 34 babies are born, and i think its a huge amount of number for just 8 seconds. It practually shows India is full of great education because 100 people in india graduate speaking english, and our graduating students know some language but not really all of it very well. The video shows how some people cant keep there jobs very long, 1 in 2 workers have kept there jobs in 5 years, and I think that is pretty sad how much americans just give up and/or get laid off. In ten years they made new jobs/college majors which I believe is amazing because were finding a new job to do to help all of us out. The video also shows that 50% of 21year olds have created web content and that proves we are getting smarter with technology every year. At the end Mr. Fisch this is exponential times, but i believe everyone and everything is just getting more populated or smarter.
